The Office of Marketing Communications at Washington State University seeks a dynamic and resourceful individual to join its Web Marketing team. Reporting to the Senior Web Marketing Manager, the Web Designer will assist in the application of a comprehensive marketing program to meet the University’s strategic goals, and work with creative teams in the development, production, maintenance, and evaluation of complex Web communication solutions.
Major duties of this position will include developing and testing rich interactive Web user experiences that align with University strategies; designing and maintaining site information architecture, navigational structure, user interface, visual design, graphics, HTML e-mails, and interactive features and elements for Web and e-mail; and optimizing Web page designs and features to minimize download time and meet browser and platform compatibility standards. The position will also maintain a thorough understanding of WSU’s Web identity and brand standards and effectively translate them to the University’s online environment; work collaboratively with Web developers and others to establish goals, strategies, processes, and schedules for Web projects; and keep abreast of current Web marketing strategies and design trends.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, commercial art, multimedia, computer science or related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a year-for-year basis
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant experience in the field
- Proven experience with professional Web development and graphics tools
- Proven experience in the design and development of engaging Web user experiences, information architecture, and Web graphics creation
- Experience in designing and coding CSS standard–compliant Web sites
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new Web development methods and technologies
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
Preferred
- Strong knowledge of Web marketing principles
- Experience developing creative and successful Web solutions within an established corporate identity system
- Proven experience in developing interactive features and design elements with XHTML, CSS, HTML e-mail, JavaScript, Flash, video, audio or other multimedia technologies
- Experience directing and editing photography and video
- Experience meeting Web accessibility standards
